Stephany Yupe

CONTENT FELLOW

Stephany is an undergraduate student at Bryn Mawr College in Bryn Mawr Pennsylvania. She is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Sociology and a minor in Latin-American Iberian Studies. She is adamant about learning about the long-term environmental effects of hazardous waste and materials on communities as part of her interest in the social sciences. She has enjoyed collaborating with resource networks for students by joining a mentor program titled the Camino Nuevo Charter Academy Alumni Peer Mentor Program. Through this program, she has given back to her community by becoming an active resource for first-generation college students as they navigate their transition to college. She has enjoyed engaging with on-campus clubs like Mujeres, a club of Latinx women that promotes a space of belongingness and cultural recreation.

Stephany is invested in analytical writing and helping others with their writing through proofreading. She has put these skills to use in courses that require research and accessible writing to educate others surrounding social issues. In her free time, she enjoys journaling and has grown an appreciation for the hiking trails and beaches in her Los Angeles home. She believes that working with Spec Matters is an invaluable experience in proposing cleaner and healthier alternatives for daily experiences. At Spec Matters she can utilize her writing and research skills to create educational content that will begin by tackling unsustainable materials in homes and everyday spaces. Stephany is open to continuing to pursue career paths in the clean energy and environmental sector.

She is also open to collaborating with other non-profit organizations in the future that can utilize her love of writing. Some personal goals she wishes to pursue are traveling with her friends and learning about how they experience their communities.
