WHAT IT IS:

“We build with thousands of different materials. It matters, what we choose, where those materials are coming from and how far they traveled, who produced them, how they were manufactured, and whether these products and materials are designed for a future life when the building’s lifespan is over.” – MSR Design

MSR developed this packet of tools and thought processes that can help inform better material design choices.  The document is meant to serve as an example and be adapted to the needs of other organizations working toward the same goal of improving building products in the industry.

WHEN TO USE THIS:

This packet serves as a great framework for setting standards and developing criteria for healthier and more sustainable materials at architecture and design firms.  We encourage the use of this tool as a guide to work toward a greater goal of specifying and promoting healthier materials in the work that you do.
